5Excellent Old-School PopperDec 16, 2009
By CaptainZap "CaptainZap"
I bought this popper in December 2000. After nine years of use I can say this thing is great!

I looked at a lot of machines when I was shopping and I picked this one for a couple of reasons. First, it has both a heating unit below the floor and a heat lamp above. Most small units I looked at only had the heat lamp. Second, this machine has glass walls. The doors are hard plastic, but the walls are glass. I was worried that the smaller machines with plastic walls would scratch easily as I scooped the popped corn. I bought a metal popcorn scoop that's tapered to feed a popcorn box and has holes to allow unpopped kernals to fall through. If I had a plastic walled machine, I'd have to be careful how I used the scoop for fear of scratching the walls. But, as another reviewer pointed out, this thing is built like a tank!

One pre-packaged pack of popcorn makes about as much as two typical microwave bags. But it tastes much better! My wife and I love this popper. I've never regretted my purchase!

5Built like a tank!Nov 14, 2009

Excellent build quality, ease of use, ease of cleanup and the quality of popcorn is equal to fine quality theater popcorn. Highly recommended!

4Customer Service made the differenceJan 02, 2010
By M. Wilson
I'm revising my review on this product based on the excellent customer service at Paragon. They responded to our complaints about the two models we returned and replaced it. They even had us talk to an engineer about our issues so they could avoid those problems in future products. We tested it last night and it worked perfectly. I'm still giving it 4 stars because we shouldn't have had issues with two previous machines but we are happy with the one we currently have and expect many years of enjoyment out of this product.

Original Review:
I've made thousands of purchases from Amazon over the last 12 years but never felt strongly enough about a product to write a review until now. My husband bought this for me as a Christmas gift during a recent lightning deal. The first time we tried to use it, it blew out 2 circuits and wouldn't turn on. Turns out there was a loose wire on the bottom heating element. We returned it and Amazon sent a replacement the next day. We just tried it again last night. This time it actually turned on and we were able to make a batch of popcorn...until we turned the handle to remove the excess from the kettle AND IT FELL APART! Turns out the screws were missing from the bottom of the kettle! I can't imagine why a machine that costs this much money would be so poorly made!

5Paragon TP-6Jul 12, 2010

This is a well built American made machine, I had some questions and they were addressed immediately. The documentation was even signed by the people making the product. Much better than the cheaply made cheaper products and you know you'll be able to get parts and support for it. And it makes most excellent popcorn. As an added note they sell a replacement Kettle corn pot for it which I recommend if you are going to make sweet corn or caramel corn no burning or sticking so far with it.

We bought this for our party room as a substitute to chips. Easy to use and clean. The popcorn stays warm. I recommend it!
